Japan Trip One Year Later

Today marks one year since we went to Tokyo, Japan. (you can visit my travel blog here)

Rob and I miss it a lot and talk about it often. We will go again, of course, hopefully to places like Kyoto to see the more traditional side of Japan.

Vacations are supposed to recharge people, bring them back to themselves, rebalance them, spring clean their minds. While I did spend most of my time in Japan over tired and over stimulated, I did manage to learn somethings that I want to take with me.

- Don’t be negative and ‘specially don’t make the world know.

I didn’t see people in Japan yell and bitch at each other, complain to employees, or mumble some rude comment. Shit happens, just go on. First few minutes back in the US, I saw how ugly and rude and mean people are and how they have to let the whole world know about it.

- Don’t be a glutton and eat smaller portions.

I didn’t gain any weight on my trip. We ate out every meal, drank and had plenty of sweets. But guess what? We ate small portions, we didn’t eat more than we needed to even though it tasted so good. I had a western style breakfast at Denny’s and it came with 2 eggs, a slice of bacon, a sausage, a three mini pancakes. I was so glad I got mini pancakes! I could eat them without feeling like a pig, but feel satisfied that I had some.

Japanese people are also pretty thin. Yes there are heavy people, but not people who were like 50+ pounds overweight. And it’s because they eat small, eat healthy and balanced.

-You don’t need to show all your skin to be attractive

I also love their fashion style. Girls don’t strive to be sexy by wearing skin tight, mid drift and cleavage showing tops. The pants and shorts tend to be tight, but all the tops and loose and flowing. It’s all about mix and match and showing your own style. I do wish the US could really adopt that style. You see it sometimes, but I wish it was the norm. Wouldn’t you think that would help everyone’s body image if we just started wearing clothes that were more loose and flowy, but still looked flattering?

Rob and I are going on another trip soon, this time a cruise to the carribeanne. I’ll bring a lot of what I learned about traveling to this trip. I also wonder what I will learn about myself this time?

I <3 Toyko

While in Tokyo, we saw these keychains that played the song/melody that they play at each train station stop. Each train station has a specific song. I thought they were so cool, but I didn’t buy it.

So today, like a lot of days, I was missing Japan. Rob and I often talk how we’d like to go back because it was just so awesome. Anyways, I was thinking about those keychains and was bummed out that I didn’t buy it.

I though, well the internets is such a great place that surely I could find it to buy some where! And I did!!

I found a sweet online store called Strapya World! Not only did they have those keychains, but they have a bunch of other awesome things from Japan, mostly all cell phone related stuff (it is called Strapy World after all) They even had the iPhone case I almost got!

While I can’t order anything right now, I’m so excited that I found a place to buy those keychains! I can’t wait to get the Shinjuku keychain and play it over and over and over: ) I’ll also get that iPhone case and a neat little attachment that allows you to carry a cell phone charm on your iPhone. Yay!

Hello Hana

Meet Hana. She’s my Blythe doll that I got from Japan. She’s a Cassiopiea Spice Blythe, the only Blythe I really wanted to get. In fact, she was the last one, on display, at Kiddy Land. I did see her at a couple more other stores later. Oh well, didn’t want the risk of not getting her.

She’s my first Blythe doll: ) I don’t know if I’ll do any customizations on her, like a lot of people do. I’m afraid to do anything to her since she cost a lot of money. But we’ll see.

I do plan on making her outfits and accessories! And of course take plenty of photos.

I already got her another outfit. It’s a Re-Ment outfit and I just happened to get the one I really wanted. Re-Ment are toys usually miniatures of foods and such, and they come in a package where you don’t know what you’re getting. They make a few outfits that fit Blythe dolls.

Actually, I guess you can say I did do a small customization on her. I washed her hair so it could be a bit smoother and softer. I used the warm water and shampoo method. I used Aussie’s shampoo for oily hair which has a low PH. I do hope it turns out all right. Already I can see some of her waves are gone, but that’s ok. As long as it’s easy to brush and hangs/sits nicely. Even washing her hair makes me so nervous!!

Before wash:

After wash (still wet):

So, you’ll be seeing her around this blog more! I hope you enjoyed meeting her! By the way, Hana means flower in Japanese. I wanted a Japanese name since I got her on our trip and I wanted a name that didn’t sound too Japanese. Hana was also a character’s name of a show I watched on our last day in Japan.

My week

This week Rob and I were in  Japan!! We kept it a little hush hush on the internets so no one would see that we’re gone and break into our house. But now we’re back and I can talk about it freely!!

I kept a blog while in Japan, talking about what we did each day and post lots of photos. I’ll keep posting in it for a bit, talking about different things that we saw, learned and such.

Check it out: Go Suzilla!

So yeah, that’s basically my week!
