So yesterday morning after Rob and I had breakfast, he asks me what I wanted to do for the day. I just shrugged my shoulders and said that I didn’t have anything planned.
“Do you want to go to Asheville?”, he asks.
I blink, ponder it a bit and thought why the heck not! We’ve been stuck being lazy and boring for so long now.

We quickly got ready, packed a few things and the dogs and we left! Asheville is only about 2 hours away from us, so it’s not a super long drive or anything. A mini road trip if you will: )
By the time we got to downtown Asheville it was lunch time, so I suggested we get food from Early Girl Eatery. I just LOVE that place! All their food is local and there’s a board in the front telling you where they got all their food from that day. Rob had the cheeseburger and I had a spinach apple walnut salad with tempeh on top. Yum!
I’ve always wanted to bring the dogs with us to Asheville and it happened! This was also the first time the dogs have been out and about in a city and not just a park or grassy area. Molly just didn’t know what to do with herself, howling and whining at everything, heh.
We spent the rest of the day just driving around in areas that we’ve never been since we usually just stick to the same spots. It was such a great day. And the weather was perfect! It was supposed to be cloudy and raining, but we mostly had sunshine the whole time.
Then we drove back and was home by 6 o’clock!
It’s fun to be spontaneous sometimes!
This past Tuesday, me, our friend Eileen and Rob’s mom went to Asheville, NC.
Now, if you don’t know already, Asheville is one of our favorite little cities to visit. It’s a mountain town about 2 hours away from us and they just have the coolest people, amazing fresh and local food and awesome art.
We started off the day with some great food from Early Girl Eatery. I had the Early Girl Benny, which is like an Egg’s Benedict but with grit pattys and tomato gravy. And the fresh jam was awesome. So good!

Then we spent the rest of the day walking through all the shops and galleries. I saw so many wonderful pieces of art. It was truly inspiring! I did buy a print from Sarah Faulkner, whom I love more and more every time I see her art. Just something about her paintings makes me feel so happy and even a little nostalgic.

It was hard to choose a print, but I thought this one best represented my life right now. A little bird in the middle of a windy road, with a Go sign. Don’t stop, just go.
We’re finally over the hump at work! Things should be slowing down and I can focus on life again: )

A great way to spend my first free Saturday was for me and Rob to head up to Asheville for the Belle Chere Festival! This is my third year in a row.
Our first stop was lunch at the Laughing Seed, the best vegetarian food ever! I even got to drink some kombucha on draft, which was pretty tasty. Then we walked around in the sweltering looking at all the booths of crafts and local organizations. I visited the Sensodyne booth and got about 9 free samples and a tooth brush, I do love their tooth paste.

We then met up with Rob’s old coworkers at Humongo (formally known as Plaid), who are on their 4th annual tour across the US. We had some yummy chocolatey drinks and a lavender soda at a sweet shop and then a few beers, some mead and a sweet tea at one of the local bars. It was great seeing them again! We are super excited for them and their tour. Be sure to check them out yourselves!
