I’ve been looking at Dinara’s blog and illustrations and I just love her thin lined style.

I was inspired to make my own ink drawing. It’s a rainy cloudy day today: ) I used a .25 sized pen. I really like how it turned out and want to do some more drawings using thin pens.

Our Valentine's Day

I hope everyone had a nice Valentine’s Day!

I really enjoyed mine with Rob. On Saturday we went to our fav. local sushi restaurant for dinner. Then we went to the movies and saw The Descendants, which was a real good movie, but pretty sad. We ended the night with some awesome cupcakes from a local bakery.

On Sunday morning we made egg, bacon and biscuit sandwiches. These sage biscuits are amazing! I also made some fresh orange juice with my new juicer pitcher. Love it!

On actual Valentine’s Day, I made an Indian dinner with a store bought simmer sauce. I even found some yummy naan bread. Rob got me a bar of raw chocolate, a bath bomb and some chocolate covered strawberries and a card with the most glitter we’ve ever seen, heehee. I made Rob a card and got him some candy. We finished the night with some wine and tv. Nothing elaborate, just simple and easy, the best kind of day.

I have the best husband. Yeah, I gave him the biggest hint that I wanted this, but still, he got it for me as a mini surprise and I love him for that.

I love making lemonade during the summer and had been looking for a good juicer, but they were not worth the $15+ I always saw them. This pitcher on the other hand is perfect! All in one! I can’t wait to start using it. If you ever come visit me, I’ll have a nice glass of fresh lemonade waiting for you.

Let's go to Asheville!

So yesterday morning after Rob and I had breakfast, he asks me what I wanted to do for the day. I just shrugged my shoulders and said that I didn’t have anything planned.

“Do you want to go to Asheville?”, he asks.

I blink, ponder it a bit and thought why the heck not! We’ve been stuck being lazy and boring for so long now.

We quickly got ready, packed a few things and the dogs and we left! Asheville is only about 2 hours away from us, so it’s not a super long drive or anything. A mini road trip if you will: )

By the time we got to downtown Asheville it was lunch time, so I suggested we get food from Early Girl Eatery. I just LOVE that place! All their food is local and there’s a board in the front telling you where they got all their food from that day. Rob had the cheeseburger and I had a spinach apple walnut salad with tempeh on top. Yum!

I’ve always wanted to bring the dogs with us to Asheville and it happened! This was also the first time the dogs have been out and about in a city and not just a park or grassy area. Molly just didn’t know what to do with herself, howling and whining at everything, heh.

We spent the rest of the day just driving around in areas that we’ve never been since we usually just stick to the same spots. It was such a great day. And the weather was perfect! It was supposed to be cloudy and raining, but we mostly had sunshine the whole time.

Then we drove back and was home by 6 o’clock!

It’s fun to be spontaneous sometimes!

I have to say that January was a great month! 2012 rocks already!

School’s going pretty good! I’m finally getting into a good groove with it. I no longer feel like the confused kid from that first week. I’m having fun with my projects too. I’m currently working on a new transit map for Charlotte’s light rail, crazy, but fun. I’m also grateful that I have knowledge and tools already to challenge myself and make great projects.

The weather has been so warm this month! It’s great because I’m walking the dogs almost every day. We all enjoy it. Last week I even had the front door opened, which the dogs loved. Molly brought her bone and sat next to the screen door, getting fresh air and sun. Even the plants got put outside from some fresh air. Once the mornings get consistently warmer, I’d like to get into running again. My goal is to run a half marathon by the end of the year.

I’ve finally got out of my cooking rut and have been making great things. Also getting a subscription to Cook’s Country totally helps! (thanks rob!) I made single serving chicken pot pies, chili, chicken noodle soup, sour cream biscuits and sage biscuits that we made into breakfast sandwiches.

I’ve just been keeping myself and my life real positive this month. I’ve been reading The Secret and The Power and it’s totally been helping. Such simple messages, but it just really inspires me to be happy, full of gratitude and love. I had some pretty rough months last year that put me at my lowest, so it feels so good to be happy. I feel like my old self again! And yeah, things are not prefect yet, but I’m not letting it bring me down because I have the confidence that it will all work out.

Rob and I just got into Portlandia and are totally loving it.

It’s like indie comedy about things that only indie people and hipsters get. Like the speakeasy mixology skit where the guy makes a mixed drink with like trash and shit and it tastes awesome. There’s one where they put a bird image on all these products because stuff with birds sells more.

Totally gotta check it out!
