My First Day Back in School

Yesterday was my first day at Art Institute of Charlotte for the Web Design & Development certificate. I survived, but I felt like this @_@ at the end.
It’s such a weird and different feeling being an adult student who’s already been to college before. All those young adult insecurities come flooding back (do I look cool? will people like me? how are my teachers?) and add a touch of crotchety old people thoughts (those kids always on their cell phones! is she really on Facebook during lecture?! what the heck are they wearing??) and then add on top of that trying to get familiar with the school, its structure and coming in to mid year where mostly everyone knows what’s going on.
Yeah…my head was going to explode by the time I left last night.
But! It’s so thrilling! It’s so fun! I’m learning some awesome stuff! I actually feel young again! Not that I was feeling old or that I am old, but it’s like a pick me up!
This quarter I have: Typography, which all projects are done by hand with ink, vellum and rulers. Joy…-_-; I’m not a very hands on technical person, that’s why I work on the computer. I also have User Centered Design, which I love! I love the psychology of design and websites. I love figuring out demographics and what they need and want. If I had stayed in fashion, I would’ve gone into trend forecasting. And Saturday I go for Intro to Scripting, pretty stoked about that.
I can’t wait to show some of the work I do at school. This week’s UCD assignment is to redesign a remote control. Fun!
*Suzy Fun Fact: For the first time ever, I used Photoshop on a PC.
**Suzy Fun Fact: In case you don’t know already, I am an avid Mac user.
