Weekend at the Beach!

We had a great time at the beach this weekend! It was a short trip, but I’m so grateful for being able to go in the first place.
We got up very early Saturday morning and drove through the middle of North Carolina. I’ve forgotten how open and undeveloped is it out there. Lots of trees and farm land, I love it! We passed by many fruit stands selling peaches, but we were on a mission. I did try for the first time boiled peanuts that I got a a gas station. It was kind of gross, but I learned today that they need to be warm and not from a gas station, hee hee. I love driving in the car with Rob. We always have a lot of fun: )
We finally got to the apartment around noon. Oh how wonderful it was to be back at the beach! There was a fig tree in the parking lot and I picked a few. Figs are one of my favorite fruits and I couldn’t help myself. The apartment was as lovely as I remembered it with its big open windows that showed a gorgeous view. We discovered a telescope and some binoculars there and had fun looking at the huge military ship off on the horizon. It had helicopters and planes taking off. I love seeing military stuff!

Then we finally went swimming! The water was so warm and nice. The waves were just perfect. It felt so good to be there and have fun and laugh. And yes, I was wearing my bikini. I felt so proud of myself for getting the courage to wear it. I hope that next summer I will want to wear it again.

Then we spent the rest of the night eating pizza, drinking too much beer and watching cable. We watched The Fifth Element and I fell in love with that movie all over again. I went to bed early while Rob stayed up and got a chance to see the moon through the telescope. He took some pictures for me which was sweet.
The next morning I got up way too early. I watched more cable and worked on a puzzle. I watched some It’s Me or the Dog, a travel show about Japan, and my favorite The Dog Whisperer. After Rob got up we decided to swim just one more time. Yeah, didn’t work out so well, the waves were very rough and knocked me down a couple times. I skinned my knee and lost my sunglasses. We expected some trouble with the waters since Hurricane Daniel was around. At that point I was anxious to get home and made it back in time for some dinner with the in-laws. Of course we had to stop and get some peaches: )
