Hello Running!

Since today is going to be very warm, I decided that it was a perfect day to start running again. Right now I’m taking it slow and easy. Once there’s consistent warm weather, then I’ll run more regularly. No pressure right now.

I’ll try to chart my progress as I go. It’s going to be interesting looking back and see how much I’ve improved. I’m also going to start eating better. I eat good now, but I would like to eat more benefiting foods.

Run #1

Today’s Goal: Run the greenway by our house to see how long it is.

Run Length & Time: 3.61 miles in 00:32!! Dude! I was just hoping for 2miles.

How I Felt: I felt pretty awesome considering I haven’t ran since December and a few times before that and the only form of exercise is walking the dogs.

Calories Burned: 315

Weight: 115.6lbs I’m not in this to lose weight, just to get into shape and achieve a goal, but I do want to keep track.

Problem Spot Measurements: waist: 28 1/2inches, pooch area/hips: 34inches This is something I would like to improve upon.

Spring Time Goals

Spring is almost here! This winter has been a tease, with its super warm weather. Every time I think it’s going to stay super warm, the next day it’s in the 40’s. It’s driving me crazy.

Last year, I felt I wasted spring and summer. I wasn’t outside enough, I didn’t plant things, no garden, no camping. I know things were kind of wonky, but still, like what stopped us from eating dinner outside most days?

I’m already thinking about what I want to do this year. Counting down the days! All day I think about what I want to do once it’s warm for good.

House Goals:

  • Get the lawn under control (we are actually hiring people to weed and seed)
  • Grow a garden
  • Cut down bushes and redo the front yard
  • Hang a planter infront of the kitchen window
  • Build a screened-in porch
  • Get a rain barrel
  • Sew covers for patio furniture cushions
  • Hang up the dragonfly lights
  • Get office looking good
  • Get a mirror for the bedroom
  • Wash kitchen curtains
  • Shorten living dinning room curtains
  • Paint guest bedroom

Personal Goals:

  • Start running again
  • Sign up and train for a half marathon
  • Run at least one 5k race
  • Ride bike at least once a week
  • Sew a couple of summer dresses
  • Go camping
  • Go to the beach
  • Go to the swimming pool (finally get a pass too)
  • Eat most meals outside
  • Read outside
  • Cul-de-sac parties
  • Go hiking at Latta Plantation
  • Wear that bikini again
  • Tomato and mayo sandwiches
  • Lemonade

Myrtle Beach

This weekend we went to Myrtle Beach, SC. Rob and a few of our friends were running the Myrtle Beach Marathon.

It was my first time at Myrtle Beach and it was quite something. Rob was right, not the California beach environment I’m used to. It was like Las Vegas on the beach. However, we had an awesome time!

This was Rob’s second marathon. His first was just about 3 months ago! He took a couple weeks off and went straight into training again, crazy. Rob finished the race just a few seconds over 4:19, which is awesome!

It’s so amazing watching people at the race. You have so many different body types and ages. Old men and women, heavy people, hippies, I heard there were even a few kids running too. All of them running 13.1 miles or the full 26.2! You can’t help get choked up watching and clapping for these people.

Here’s the boys who ran the full marathon. I’m so proud of them! It truly inspires me…and it also makes me feel so lazy! ha. There’s already talks of the next marathon. I think it’s going to be Savannah, GA in Nov. I think I might join the boys in this one. I’m going to run the half marathon: ) If women who are way older or heavier than me can do it, then there’s no reason for me not to! No excuses.

After the race, Rob recouped in the hotel room and I walked along the beach. I love just love being by the ocean. I even saw dolphins swimming close to shore!

Once everyone was rested, we headed out for some celebrating. These boys needed some beer! And boy did we have some. It ended up being a fun and crazy night. Needless to say, the drive home the next day was a little rough, thankfully it’s only a 4 hour drive.

We had a great time at Myrtle Beach. We needed a little break from our crazy lives to step away and recharge. I told Rob that we need to do that more often, just go somewhere for the weekend, clear your mind of all the worries and stress that weigh you down. And when you come back, you feel like you can take on anything.

I’ve been looking at Dinara’s blog and illustrations and I just love her thin lined style.
I was inspired to make my own ink drawing. It’s a rainy cloudy day today: ) I used a .25 sized pen. I really like how it turned out and want to do some more drawings using thin pens.

Our Valentine’s Day

I hope everyone had a nice Valentine’s Day!

I really enjoyed mine with Rob. On Saturday we went to our fav. local sushi restaurant for dinner. Then we went to the movies and saw The Descendants, which was a real good movie, but pretty sad. We ended the night with some awesome cupcakes from a local bakery.

On Sunday morning we made egg, bacon and biscuit sandwiches. These sage biscuits are amazing! I also made some fresh orange juice with my new juicer pitcher. Love it!

On actual Valentine’s Day, I made an Indian dinner with a store bought simmer sauce. I even found some yummy naan bread. Rob got me a bar of raw chocolate, a bath bomb and some chocolate covered strawberries and a card with the most glitter we’ve ever seen, heehee. I made Rob a card and got him some candy. We finished the night with some wine and tv. Nothing elaborate, just simple and easy, the best kind of day.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I have the best husband. Yeah, I gave him the biggest hint that I wanted this, but still, he got it for me as a mini surprise and I love him for that.
I love making lemonade during the summer and had been looking for a good juicer, but they were not worth the $15+ I always saw them. This pitcher on the other hand is perfect! All in one! I can’t wait to start using it. If you ever come visit me, I’ll have a nice glass of fresh lemonade waiting for you.
